Carrying on the high standards set by Sister Patricia
Agnes, Sister Gertrude Agatha succeeded her as principal. Sister Gertrude
was followed by Sister Adrienne Marie, Sister Francis Cornella, Sister
Mary Joan, and Sister Margaret Kelleher.
In 1958, the Home and School Association, which was to
play such a vital role in the successful operation of the school, came
into being. The first officers, Frank J. Wandyes, President; Mrs. Donald
F. Keefe, Vice-President; Mrs. Edmund Saranec, Secretary; and Treasurer
Edward C. Crotty, set the tone for a dedicated and highly active
organization. Through the years, the Home and School Association has
tackled everything including "cupcake sales," book fairs, and
renovating the gym.
Their assistance in the library continues to be invaluable. They
have expended innumerable hours and immeasurable energy on this and
many other projects. They have supported the baseball, basketball,
volleyball, and softball teams. They have also sponsored fund
raising projects such as candy sales, and wrapping paper drives. |

In the fall of 1980 a half day kindergarten was opened as
a pilot program requested by parents and the St. Rita School Board.
Because of its success, the program continued the following year with two
half-day sessions and the addition of a teacher aide. In 1987, when the Sisters of Notre Dame were no longer
able to staff the school, the Dominican Sisters from Columbus Ohio, moved
into the school. Sr. Patricia Thomas assumed the role of principal.

Many changes occurred in the operation of the school
during the following years. Changes included the installation of carpeting
in the halls and offices, new lighting in the hallways and stairwells, a
new roof added in the summer of 1990 and new windows added in 1991. In
1989, the decision was made to move the Kindergarten classroom from the
first floor of the convent to a regular school building. At this time,
there were only half day classes provided, but in 1990, the school began
offering full day and half day classes with the use of two classrooms.

There have also been three changes in the administration
of St. Rita Parish since 1987. There have been several pastors in the
these 10 years, but the blessing has been their commitment to the support
of their school and the encouragement they have given to its future. It is
a real testimony to the strength of the school's programs.

In June 1992, the library was moved from the second
floor to the lower level and was expanded. The former library and the
former art room became the 8th grade homerooms. A new art room was created
on the lower level. A computer lab and band room were added at this time,
along with a new nurse's room. The principal's office, previously located
on the second floor, was relocated to an area near the main entrance.

In 1995, the Apostles of the Sacred
Heart of Jesus came to St. Rita and Sr. Mary Anne Sharron became the
principal. In 1996, under the direction of Fr. David Walker, an
expansion fund drive was kicked off to add on a full size computer
room, two classrooms on the second floor, a handicapped entrance and
handicapped access to the gym. I |
In the Spring of 2000, a
fully functional science lab was added, the library was enlarged and
renovated and air conditioning was added to the classrooms.

In 2006 - 2007, under Sr. Barbara
Thomas, St. Rita School celebrated its 50th year anniversary. A
two-year long fund-drive supported by the parish and school communities,
allowed the school to undergo a massive technology upgrade to meet the
challenges in today’s education including new equipment in the computer
lab and wireless internet service throughout the building. The founding
vision of the school continues to guide its faculty and over 500 students
as they strive for academic excellence and ever deepening fidelity to
their Catholic Christian commitment.
